GLAZED VITRIFIED BRICK

Brick manufacturing plants in Ohio appear to have cornered the market on glazed vitrified sidewalk bricks.  The bull's eye (or circle cube) pattern seen in Savannah is from the Hocking Clay Manufacturing Company, in Haydenville, Ohio, though another online source asserts this pattern comes from the Nelsonville-Diamond plant near Nelsonville, Ohio.  The eight-pointed star or "flower" pattern in Roanoke and the six-pointed star in Columbus -- were produced in factories in or near Nelsonville.  The 8-pointed star/flower pattern came from the Nelsonville Plant #3, while the 6-pointed star came from the Nelsonville Plant #2.  The 6-pointed star brick is sufficiently significant to warrant its own monument (scroll down at the external website).
